Deranian Award to Sue Halvorson

Sue Halvorson, a Big Sister to Sasha for eight years and an energetic supporter of the agency, was honored for her outstanding volunteer efforts with the H. Martin Deranian Fellowship Award at the annual meeting in January. Ben Ticho, executive director, praised Halvorson for her energy, ideas and ability to take them to completion.
“There’s no better choice for the Deranian Award,” he said. “Sue has given her gifts of time and talent to Sasha and to the agency.”
Halvorson, who also serves on the board of directors, headed fund raising art auctions and is a veteran of the Rodman Ride.
The Deranian Award is named for Dr. Martin Deranian, a Shrewsbury dentist, who was matched with his Little Brother 40 years ago and has been an active supporter of the agency ever since. Dr. Deranian remains in contact with his Little Brother, Cameron Fersch, who is a Big Brother himself.
